Animal Defenders Office's special screening of

'Unlocking The Cage' (2016)

The Animal Defenders Office was proud to host Canberra's first (and so far, only) screening of this fascinating documentary. Tickets for the event were sold out.

'Unlocking The Cage' is a courtroom thriller about justice for animals. The film follows American animal rights lawyer Steven Wise in his unprecedented challenge to break down the legal wall that separates animals from humans. This inspirational film has you on the edge of your seat as it shows how Wise and his team of animal lawyers try to file the first lawsuits in human history that seek to transform a chimpanzee from a “thing” with no rights to a “person” with legal protections.

The screening took place at the Lobrow Gallery & Bar, an exciting new venue in Civic.
